Worker Resistance

When an enemy navy fleet lands on a planet a worker resistance may form. The resistance is taken directly from workers stockpiled and put in an army group. These units are special from everything else creatable and cannot be reproduced elsewhere. The workers resistance is vital to any new player, this can save you from being destroyed.

The maximum number of workers that can be used for a resistance per planet is 7,500 by default but may be changed on a per-round basis. If the worker stockpile is less than 7,500 it will take as many as are available, up to the maximum. This will be repeated each time a navy fleet lands until a total of 7,500 workers have been drafted as a resistance. If a planet changes owners before a full resistance was formed then a new resistance can form under the new owner.

Example: You have 2,000 workers and a fleet lands so your resistance will consist of 2,000 units. Another navy fleet lands later and you have 3,000 workers so a new resistance will form consisting of 3,000 units. The planet is taken by someone and is later attacked and when the fleet lands there are 25,000 workers on the planet. A resistance of 2,500 units will form. Later another enemy navy fleet lands but no resistance is formed because the maximum has been reached on that planet.

Tactics and Strategy

There might seem there is not much tactics and strategy when it comes to warfare in Imperial Kingdoms, but you should not judge it to soon. Ok, there is no way that you can control your units to attack on the right flank, or let your infantery charge the enemy while your tanks sneak up from behind, BUT is this everything you can place under "Tactics and Strategy"? NO! To win wars in Imperial Kingdoms there is a lot of stuff you need to know, and to think about and there is many different strategies.

First you need to make good units, this is hard but when you've played the game for some time you will learn how to do it, just remember that if your units got to little power you wont be able to make a single hit! So most players concentrate early on Power, and armour on their units (if armor>power you don't hit), and after that there is many different opinions about what is best, and this is something you will have to find out for yourself...

Then when you have your units ready and want to war, how should you do this? First you need to declare war, and then you need to be sure they are inside your attack limit, but maybe there is something else you need to think about? There is very few players in IK that are 24/7, most sleep at night, this might give you an upper-hand in combat, if you care to do it you can find out when the player you are intrested in attacking are asleep, if your attack has started 5h-10h before your enemy notice it you already have the upperhand. I would also suggest that you get ready for war a few days before, by moving forces to planets near your enemy (maybe take some NPC planets.) This will make the attack much quicker. If you think your enemy has very good forces it might be an idea to split the attack so that you take out his troops with minimal looses for yourself.

I am myself a big fan of first swarming my enemy with scout forces, consisting of 100-1000 fighters and 100 droids on each of the enemy planets, just to take all the planets that have no defence and know what defence/units your enemy got.

But anyway, remember, that loosing today might help you to win tomorrow, just learn and develop ;)

Creating Units

To start off you will have to decide which type of units you want. For army units Medium and Heavy Tanks are most suitable for assaults and Heavy Tanks are great for defence. You will want a big Navy fleet for defence on your main planets, some Heavy Fighters should do the trick but even a heavier ship like a Corvette or Battleship would be perfect as the game progresses. You might even reach the state that you can easily produce Space Stations, these will give you a huge advantage as they can hold a massive amount of weapons so any enemy fleets approacing your planets won't survive long.

You will also have to develop weapons so you have something to mount on your units. Once you have researched your chosen weapon, you can upgrade it further by modifying the 'Design' of it. When developing your weapons you might want to take note of how the Combat Forumla works so you can get the most amount of damage out of your weapons.

Once you have decided on your weapon and you are happy with how much you have developed it you now have to mount it to one of your units, be it Navy or Army.

In the research clich the 'Blueprints' button, then 'Create', you will see something similar to this.

Blueprints

Firstly choose your weapon from the Weapon Design drop-down box and give it an appropiate name, click 'Create'.

Then go back to the 'Blueprints' page and do the same for your Army or Navy [if attacking a foe it might be wise to give your units and weapons names that are hard to decypher so your enemy doesnt know what kind of weapons and units you have] units.

This time, when you click 'Create' a screen like this

Choosing Weapons
will appear, select your weapon that you have created. Depending on the size of your weapon and the weapon load of the units you might be able to place more that 1 weapon on a unit. Use a calculator to figure out how many weapons you can fit on your unit. [you can make 3 degigns of the same MK unit (only 1 per weapon) before you have to research it further] Then click 'Create' again.

Your unit will now have your chosen weapon on it. Weapons can be specialised for certain things, HMG's are often used to kill large amounts of droids, workers or infantry. The Pulse cannon, and other heavy weapons are often used for taking out tanks or navy units.

You can upgrade units to your liking but for an assault army ground unit max weapon load is advised so you can fit the maximum amount of weapons on it and you would want some armour so your units have a chance of destroying the units on the planet. For navy units you can have a meximum weapon load aswell, for same reason stated above and you might want to upgrade your speed, this way your navy units can back up your army units even if they are quite a distance away. For defencive navy units the Space Station is advised, it can hold an awesome amount of weapons, it can hold a maximum of 420 weapons!! Super Heavy Weapons can be easily placed on these units, weapons such as the Antiproton Cannon and Fusion Cannon can deal a massive amount of damage, so are advised for this type of navy unit.

Specialising Your Units

You will want different weapons for different tasks. Theres no point in putting a lower-power weapon on a Heavy Tank, because your opposition is likely to have armour that your Heavy Machine Gun can't penetrate. For Heavy duty assaults i would reccomend the Pulse cannon. If upgraded correctly it can have a power of 300 and a damage of 200. Which means it can potentialy hit any unit with armour less then 300, and can cause a serious amount of damage. You haver other choices, such as the Proton Torpedo, Gatling C.I.W.S. and even up to a Disruptor Beam, the highest unit in the Heavy Weapons group. Maybe you'd rather go for a laser or flamethrower to get rid of your enemy's Workers Resistance. Well, the flamethrower could be advised for you, although it has a low power stat, if all you're killing is low leveled droids, infantry or workers you dont need a high-powered weapon. The flamethrower can deal 350 damage to low or no armour units. Maybe for your navy needs you need something then can deal high power, high damage and with a 100% accuracy rate. You need something to mount on your Space Station? How about an Antiproton Cannon, the last in the Super Heavy Weapon family. This awesome gun can deal 30,000 damage. And can hit 2000 power, well above the armour of any unit, so you are 100% sure you will hit the unit, and if you do, that 30,000 damage will sure show.

If you'd like to see the stats for a different weapon not mentioned here, you can visit BezUK's tech Tree. If you click Here and click on a weapon [represented in yellow text] you can see how you can upgrade it, and even the time taken to upgrade to the next MK.
