How do I take over a planet?

In order to conquer any planet you must attack. Typically empty planets will contain some local aliens you must kill before taking the planet. However, to conquer an occupied planet you must defeat the current owner's defences. You will firslty have to pick a target. Try to find someone that is close to you, so it takes you less time to travel to them. Once you pick your target you will have to declare a state of war against them. To do this note down their kingdom ID [and planet ID], this will be located next to their Kingdom Name [or planet name]. Then go to your status page and click Propositions. Select 'Declare War On Kingdom' from the drop-down list and click 'Continue'. Enter the kingdom ID that you want to attack in the box, you can also release a press release on your decision to declare war. Once you have created the Proposition you will have to vote on it. If you are in a team the majority of the team will have to vote 'Yes' on the Proposition for it to be passed, but if you are a solo player then just your vote will be enough.

Now you have declared war on your chosen Kingdom you have to ready your Army and Navy forces. Click the Military Button and then groups.

Create a group and put in the group the forces you want to send to the planet. Do the same for navy.

Once you have created your Navy group, and have placed the appropiate amount of transporters in it click the 'Cargo' button, and at the bottom of the panel you will see your army group, select 'Move to Group' from the drop-down box. Your army forces will now be aboard the transporters, click 'Destination' and enter the planet ID you want to send your forces to and click 'Travel'. Your forces will now be on there way to your enemy's planet.

How does the new combat system work?

The new combat system is based on a ratio between power and armour. The amount of damage done to a unit depends on the sqrt(power/armor). Basically the amount of damage is decided on how much greater or lesser your power is from their armor. A perfect 1:1 ratio will deal 100% damage, while less power reduces the percentage of damage taken and visa versa. For more information - [1]

Note: This is no longer entirely true. There are several combat calculation engines with the latest being x2

What does weapon targeting do, and how can I set it?

You can do that on a per-group basis. Simply go to the group you want to set targets on and click on the "Targetting" button at the bottom of the page. Any weapons on units that are currently in the group will have the option of being set. When set it will try to target that specific type of unit before anything else. If it isn't set or there aren't any of what it is set to, it will target units randomly.
